Cupping is a centuries-old therapy, believed to have originated in China. Plastic or glass cups are suctioned into the skin, and can be left still or slid by the therapist. The purpose of the cups is to work directly with the fascial layers and the soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

Cupping can be uncomfortable, similar to a deep massage, but often creates a greater release than massage alone. The cups may leave marks on the skin, which will fade within hours to weeks depending on the client and their specific body.

Cupping has many benefits and usages, including:

  • Fascial Rehydration

  • Increased Lymph Drainage

  • Greater Range of Motion

  • Stretches the Muscles and Soft Tissues

  • Decreasing Muscular Tension

  • Increased Vascular Flushing

  • Addressing Scar Tissue, Old Injuries, and Adhesions

  • Reduced Localized Inflammation

We offer two types of cupping treatments. Both have the same aims and results, it is only the application that differs.

Myofascial Cupping uses plastic cups with one-way air valves and a hand-pump to pull the air from the cup to suction the cup to the body.

Fire Cupping has a small flame put inside of a glass cup to remove the oxygen, creating a vacuum so the cup can suction onto the body. This happens very quickly, so the cup does not heat at all.

We do not offer wet cupping.
